The mission of the Friends of Mount Vernon Springs is to preserve the historical, cultural, and natural resource of the free flowing mineral springs known as “Health and Beauty” located in Chatham County, North Carolina.
In doing so, our organization strives to promote environmentally sound economic development including restoration and maintenance of existing historical buildings designated within the national and state historical registered area and to stimulate, support, and/or create jobs based on the eco-touristry industry to the area.
Our organization will network with established local agencies and entities to obtain grants and donations for the development of attractions such as a Health Resort, park, hiking trails,amphitheatre, and museum for community education and recreation purposes.
What We Do
Our organization is a 100% volunteer organization. We are currently trying to raise money to beautify the historical Mount Vernon Springs and the area surrounding the springs. We also plan to acquire land to put a nature walk trail and eventually build a park for the community. All help is needed and appreciated!
